What word or phrases should be retired and why?
A word that should be retired is the word “dope”. I feel like the word dope is used in multiple ways, but now, there are new terms that fit better into context. Primarily, dope is used as a term to describe something cool. Now, there are words that are more in fashion and not outdated. I feel like now when someone uses the word dope, it is just cringy. I think more in fashion terms that replaced dope are words like “fire” and “lit”. These words are more commonly used than dope in today’s media.
Marijuana has also taken the title of “dope”, now that term is nearly obsolete. I think these terms change very frequently. Once a new term is introduced the old ones tend to disappear, which is why dope is now seen as cringy. It is now a term that is uncommon which almost makes it feel uncomfortable or awkward to say.
