This year’s musical is out of the box compared to past shows that have been showcased. Sophomore Mackenzie Ingram said, “Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will bring you on the adventure of the bible story of Joseph and how his dreams, and brothers send him on a crazy journey.

Director Anne Davis said the show is unusual because there is no dialogue. The story is told entirely through music. “It is very colorful and has a lot of fun music and dancing,” Davis added. Also Mackenzie Ingram said the show is special because they get to cover so many styles of music that could be appealing to everyone.

The story is told by the three narrators (Olivia Buck, Madison Ingram and Makenzie Jones), Joseph, (Aaron Swanson) and Jacob, who is Joseph’s dad (T.J. Lockhart). Along with his 11 brothers (Aden Mayhew, Brandon Hayes, Eli Ware, Isaiah Moore, Jayden Snow, Kyle Neace, Landon Owen, Marvin Short, Mackenzie Ingram, Matt Taylor and Max Barham) who were overly jealous of Joseph due to him being the favorite son. In addition, to the wives of Jacob and their sons, and the young Children’s Chorus.

One of the three narrators Mackenzie Jones said the main challenge I have faced during the rehearsal process has definitely been piecing together the show. “There are a lot of tight harmonies that we have to nail,” Jones said. Furthermore, Dan, played by Mackenzie Ingram, said that the hardest challenge would be doing all the dances and getting them memorized.

Despite the challenges that came along with learning the material, Jones said her favorite song is, “Close Every Door” sung by Joseph. “Unlike the rest of the musical being in a major tonality, this song is in a minor key, showing a very powerful message,” Jones said. On the other hand Mackenzie Ingram said her favorite song is, “Those Canaan Days.” “I love all the funny bits we do and the nice harmonies,” Mackenzie Ingram said.

Furthermore, Macie Tyler who plays one of the wives and an Ishmaelite portrays the Ishmaelite by, “standing hunched and having a funny walk,” Tyler said. On the other hand, to portray the role of a wife she “acts mature and pays close attention to everything happening on stage,” Tyler said.

“I luckily get to be pretty similar to my true self with my narrator character, I am just more animated and energetic,” Jones said. According to Jones her favorite part about her character is the involvement. “Getting to be involved in just about every song is tons of fun,” Jones said.
