The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FCA, is an organization at Alton High School that has been meeting since the beginning of first semester. The club is hosting its first ever 5K run on Apr. 12 at 1:30 p.m.
The FCA club meets every second and fourth Wednesday. of the month in room B351. The club meets at 8:15 in the morning and partakes in breakfast and a game together. They finish the meeting with a small devotion and prayer. FCA is sponsored by physics teacher Andrew Spainhour.
Club President senior, Adelia Sandifer, has been a member of FCA since the beginning of this school year. She works alongside senior Mackenzie Ingram to run club meetings.
“I think that this event is going to be a great way to bring the community together and support a good cause,” Sandifer said.
The club has been planning the 5K run for over a month. FCA hopes to raise money for meeting expenses and activities. Participants will pay $10 to participate in the 5K. Individuals 65 and older will pay $5 and children twelve and under can participate for free.
“I’m very excited for the FCA 5K and to show the community what FCA is,” Ingram said.
The 5K is open to all members of the community and participants have the option to either run or walk during the event. The 5K will be hosted at the Alton High cross country course. For further questions concerning the event contact Sandifer at [email protected],
