This Day in History
In 1794, Eli Whitney patented the cotton gin machine, revolutionizing the cotton industry in the southern US states.
Albert Einstein, the German-American physicist, engineer, and academic, Nobel Prize winner, was born in 1879.
In 1887, Sylvia Beach, the American-French publisher, founded Shakespeare and Company, was born
In 1889, German Ferdinand von Zeppelin patented his “Navigable Balloon“
The 1st theater was built for rear movie projection in NYC in 1931.
And in 1997, Simone Biles, the American Olympic gymnast, was born.
Regional College Fair
Today is the annual Regional College Fair. A total of 60 Universities from numerous states will be there. It’s in the Commons from 6:00pm-7:30pm. All sophomores, juniors, and seniors are encouraged to.
Strive Scan would be useful to scan a schools information using your phone and an email will be sent to you with the school’s info. It will also be a great way for the admission reps to have your contact information to follow up. You can preregister with Strive Scan at StriveFair.com so you are ready to scan as many colleges as you want. There is NO cost to you!
On Sat, April 1, there will be a cornhole tournament at noon. It will be at 1912 State Street, Alton, IL (next to Johnson’s Corner).
Registration will be at 11am, and practice goes from 11am-12pm.
All ages are welcome to play!
There will also be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams.
This event is a fundraiser for after grad 2017, so please come out and support it!
Zumba will be canceled Wednesday because it is going to be too cold to have it outside
Megyme’s Senior Crew
Megyme is looking for five Alton High 2018 Seniors for a Promotional video and photos.
The Senior Crew will receive a free senior photo session plus any photos that are taken for Promotional use.
Anyone who applies will receive 15% off basic or full senior photo session.

Battle of the Schools Trivia Night
On Saturday, March 25, 2017, the RiverBend Growth Association is holding a young adults trivia night at East Alton-Wood River High School.
Tables will be $80 each.
This trivia night is a fundraiser for nonprofit organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the Nature Institute.
Come on out and support this great cause!
