This Day in History
In 1913, Harriet Tubman, escaped slave who helped other slaves escape via the Underground Railroad, died.
Chuck Norris, the American actor, producer, and martial artist, was born in 1940.
Simon and Garfunkel recorded the first version of “The Sound of Silence” in 1964.
In 1975, dog spectacles were patented in England
Carrie Underwood, the American singer-songwriter and actress, was born in 1983
And in 1997, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, created by Joss Whedon and starring Sarah Michelle Geller, premiered on the WB TV network.
On Sat, April 1, there will be a cornhole tournament at noon. It will be at 1912 State Street, Alton, IL (next to Johnson’s Corner).
Registration will be at 11am, and practice goes from 11am-12pm.
All ages are welcome to play!
There will also be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams.
This event is a fundraiser for after grad 2017, so please come out and support it!

The Senior Crew will receive a free senior photo session plus any photos that are taken for Promotional use.
Anyone who applies will receive 15% off basic or full senior photo session.

Battle of the Schools Trivia Night
On Saturday, March 25, 2017, the RiverBend Growth Association is holding a young adults trivia night at East Alton-Wood River High School.
Tables will be $80 each.
This trivia night is a fundraiser for nonprofit organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the Nature Institute.
Come on out and support this great cause!

If you are participating in the Abraham Lincoln Read for a Lifetime program, voting is now open! In order to vote, you must have read at least four books from the reading list. Voting will end on March 15th.
Mr. Irresistible is being held tonight at 7:00 p.m. Students are encouraged to please attend.
The Special Olympics team will be at Shop ‘n Save on Saturday, March 11 selling raffle tickets from 11 am – 2 pm.
